Eric Todd Janzen, 56, of Hilliard, Florida passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 30th, 2021 at Baptist Beaches Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.
Eric was born on May 28th, 1965 in Newton, Kansas to Eldon and Caroline Janzen. Eric grew up in Kansas and graduated from Hesston High School in Hesston, Kansas in 1983. After high school he attended college at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kansas and then went on to study at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. He had several careers throughout his life but most recently thrived as a small business owner in Jacksonville, Florida.
Eric was a man of faith and loved his country. He was a passionate family man and never met a stranger. His smile, laughter, and great sense of humor brought joy to everyone who had the pleasure to cross his path. Eric was a fiercely loyal friend who would move mountains for the ones he loved. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed cheering on his beloved Kansas City Chiefs and Florida Gators. Eric had music in his heart and belted out all of his favorite old country and southern rock songs at every opportunity. His favorite pastime was riding free on his Harley Davidson with wind in his hair.
Eric made Nicole Joiner his wife on May 5th, 2012 in Jacksonville, Florida. They were happily married for 9 years before his tragic death.
Eric was preceded in death by his father Eldon H. Janzen in March of 2013.
Eric is survived by his mother, Caroline Spencer Janzen and wife, Nicole Janzen. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Austin, Allie, Jackson and Avery Janzen; his sisters, Pam (Ken) Knutson and Stephanie Janzen Suderman; his nieces, Halie and Camille Knutson and Tatum Suderman; and his nephews, Andrew Knutson and Tyler Suderman. He will be truly missed by his in-laws; Donald and Charlotte Joiner, and Kyle and Kristi Whittaker, along with a countless number of friends and additional family.
Funeral services will be held, Friday, August 6, 2021 at 1:00pm in River Road Baptist Church, 21067 County Road 121, Hilliard, Florida 32046 followed by interment in Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. The family will receive friends at the church from 6:00 – 8:00pm on Thursday, August 5, 2021. The family request that masks and social distancing will be required for all services.
