William (Haywood) Capps, 81, died on August 30th, 2023 with his family by his side at St Vincents of Jacksonville, FL.
Born on October 14, 1942 in Jacksonville, FL to Jule Wayman Sr and Doris Mae Capps who moved the family to McAlpin, FL from 1952 thru 1957 and ultimately back to Jacksonville where Haywood graduated from Paxon Senior High School in 1960.
He served in the US Army from 1960 thru 1966, after his military service he was a merchant marine of the Seafarer International Union out of Jacksonville, FL working Victory Ships hauling ammunition in Vietnam. Later, he worked as a Salesman and with heavy equipment for the family business with his brothers.
Haywood was an avid Nascar and College Football fan, especially the Florida Gators. He always enjoyed telling stories, and laughing with his family, friends and anyone who would stop to listen and crack a smile.
Haywood is survived by his three children Danny, Doris Lynn, and Tracy Capps (James). His sister Deborah Capps (Neugent), numerous Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews and one Greatgrandchild. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jules (Wayman) Capps JR, and Edwin (Ed) Capps and one Great Grandchild.
The Capps family welcomes friends and family to attend visitation on Thursday, September 7th from 6 to 8pm at Fraser’s Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Boulevard. Memorial Service will be held, Friday, September 8th, at 2pm also at Fraser’s, Internment to follow at (Trinity Baptist Church) Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, 800 Hammond Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32221.
