Zetta L Mizell
October 27, 1934 – October 8, 2023
Heaven gained a beautiful angel on October 8, 2023!
Zetta Mizell, 88, passed away peacefully at her home in Jacksonville, Florida surrounded by her family. She was born in Alabama on October 27, 1934, and married the love of her life, Wally Mizell, on April 10,1955. Their love story began when Zetta’s brother, JW, came back from temporary duty in Texas and told her he had found her husband. How true that was, and they went on to have 4 children, 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Zetta was preceded in death by 11 sisters and 2 brothers. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Wally Mizell, son Clayton Mizell, daughter Vivian Johnson (Reggie), son James Mizell, and daughter Vicki Sciolaro (Charles).
Zetta was lovingly known by all as “Nana”. She loved nutcrackers and proudly displayed her collection year-round. Zetta was very active in her church home, Westside Baptist Church, and volunteered for many charities over the years. She was also an avid scrapbooker and loved taking pictures of her loved ones. She was kind, sweet, gentle, and unselfish until her last breath.
Family will receive friends at Westside Baptist Church on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 10:00 am with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 am.

My heart is full of many wonderful memories of dear sweet Zetta. She is second mom to many of us. She surprised me and Vivian with a sweet scrapbook of photos of us . She always thought of others before herself. She and Wally are a wonderful example of Christ’s unconditional love…. Thank you Mizell family for sharing beautiful Zetta with me. I love you all.

Words cannot express the love Zetta has shown to so many. She was one of the sweetest people you would ever want to know. In 1963 was when my mom and Zetta became neighborhood friends. We lived 5 houses down around the corner. Mom and Dad used to always eat lunch at SAMS when they would run into each other shopping which usually was every two weeks or so. Meetings at Hardee’s and so much more. We’re so happy to have spent time with Zetta and to have known her and call her friend. What a beautiful soul she had. She was always there when you needed her especially for photo shoots. She was the best photographer and I have so many pictures she took. We love you Zetta and you will surely be missed.
