Patricia Diaz Fleming of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at the age of 85. Patricia was born December 4, 1938, in Lacoochee, FL to George L. (Roy) and Jewel Hunnicutt Diaz.
After graduation from Paxon High School in 1956, she held a secretarial position at the administrative office of Frito Lay. After her own children started school, she was a pre-school teacher at Normandy Baptist Temple for several years. Patricia was the consummate wife, mother, and homemaker. Her house was always immaculate yet warm and inviting. She loved to cook, garden and entertain. She took a cake decorating class and became the official birthday cake maker for the family. She hosted all holiday gatherings after her mother was no longer able. When summer came around, all the neighborhood kids were welcomed at the pool, parties and served delicious snacks.
More important than all this was that she was a devout Christian. Her faith in Jesus Christ never wavered. She was an active member of Normandy Park Baptist and later Westside Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Sandy Bellville. She is survived by here husband of 66 years, Tommy Fleming, a daughter Paula (Reverand Gary) Poplin, two sisters; Carolyn (Bob) Rogers of Ocala and Peggy (Terry) Knowles of Orange Park, five grandchildren; Sarah and Ryan Poplin, Austin Fleming and Justin and Dustin Bellville, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 10:00am at The Well at Crystal Springs Baptist Church, 9120 Crystal Springs, Road, Jacksonville, FL 32221
