Jim “James Ernest” Guest, 87, of Orange Park, Florida, passed away on June 12, 2024. He was born on September 13, 1936, in Jackhorn, Kentucky, and grew up in Coalwood, West Virginia.
Jim had a distinguished military career, serving in the US Air Force and retiring with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. After his military service, he continued working diligently in civil service with the Air Force. He also found joy as a tram driver for Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia. His strong work ethic and commitment to duty and honor were evident in every aspect of his life.
Jim will be dearly missed by his family, including his wife, Margaret Guest, his daughters Bethany and Julie, his grandchildren Raymon, Rachel, James, Jillian, Joelle, as well as five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, James E. Guest, Jr, his father Wilson Guest, his mother Georgia Atwood-Guest, and his sisters June Chambers and Elizabeth VanCampen.
A memorial service to honor Jim’s life will be held on Thursday, June 20, at Fraser Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32221. Family visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by the memorial service at 2:00 pm.
Jim’s legacy of service, dedication, and love for his family will forever be cherished and remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
