Francis Ward Davidson

Francis Ward Davidson

July 24, 1946~June 16, 2024

Just one month shy of his 78th birthday. His notorious laugh, unconditional love and compassion will be sorely missed.
Francis, the son of Ward and Mona Davidson was born on July 24th, 1946, in Molalla, Oregon. He met the love his life Edith while stationed at Turks and Caicos, Naval Base in 1969. They just celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this June.
After high school, he joined the United States Navy and became a Hospital Corpsman; a short while later, he became an Independent Duty Corpsman. While stationed aboard the U.S.S. Welch (PG-93), he became an enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. Once married, the Navy moved them to Mississippi, Virginia, and then Jacksonville, Florida, where they settled and lived in the same home for over 30 years until his last breath. After retiring from the United States Navy, he continued working first for Zurich Insurance Services and then for American Business Systems (ABS) and taking care of his family. He taught Catechism classes at St. Edwards Catholic Church. He would spend as much time as possible with his children and grandchildren. However, he most enjoyed watching Florida State Football, his love for his family, especially his love for his wife, and various odd projects around the home.
His parents preceded Francis in death, along with one son. He is survived by his wife, Edith Davidson, and their four children, Richard, Sandra, Nicole, and Leon (Lin); honorary daughters Cynthia and Nancy (Jerry); his brother Thomas (Linda); his two sisters Jeanne and Lisa, eight grandchildren: Corey, Merryl, Cheyenne, Phillip, Devante, Briana, Dominick, and Tatiana, as well as his honorary granddaughter Abigail (Kenneth) and honorary grandsons, Maxwel and Nicholas, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday June 29th, 2024, at 11:00 am at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church at 8523 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32221 with viewing one (1) hour prior. There will not be an interment as Francis will be cremated.
Floral arrangements may be sent to Fraser Funeral Home or in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church or the American Parkinson Disease Association at www.apdaparkinson.org.
There will be a repast immediately following the Mass at the family home.

Hope there is comfort in knowing others share the Davidson Family sadness on their loss of Francis, aka Frank (RIP), and do care to offer our thoughts and prayers. Frank’s life was a blessing, his family’s memory a real treasure. He was loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Mourn his departure with the knowledge that he’s now freed from health issues and be grateful that he existed. Pain is a small price to pay for his peace.😇🙏

My brother, Thomas and my parents have been given eternal life and are waiting to welcome you, Mr. Frank. I was one of the lucky ones. You shared wisdom and strength to me and my brother as your neighbors in our teens. God be with you and bless your soul.
