Mary E Coker, 78, went home to be with the Lord on September 23, 2024. She was born January 29, 1946. She was the head majorette at John Gorrie Junior High School and assistant at Robert E Lee High School where she graduated in 1964. She married the love of her life, Arthur, on November 21, 1964 and they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage next month. Mary worked for Prudential Insurance Company and retired after 29 years. After retirement, she volunteered for over 20 years at the Westside Baptist Church family bookstore where she greeted people with her beautiful smile and Godly attitude. She was a faithful member of the Hannah Class at Westside Baptist Church. Mary was very gifted. She enjoyed all kinds of crafts including macrame, ceramics and scrapbooking. Her husband, Arthur, was the love of her life and they enjoyed annual trips to Gatlinburg each year. She and her majorette friends stayed in close contact for 60 years and spent time in the summer at Captiva together. Mary was a prayer warrior who loved the Lord, and she was loved by all who knew her. Mary is survived by her husband, Arthur, two sons, Arty Coker and Garrett Coker, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, one brother, Frank (Jackie) Stoudenmire and two sisters, Sylvia Rhoden and Berta (Danny) Baacke and a host of nieces and nephews. My Dear Friend, Mary will be sorely missed. She always teased me about being older than her. Only two months. But it was a tease done with love. I loved helping when I could with the Bible ministry that she was doing. I had a niece in prison that received one of those bibles. My niece is now doing great. Love and prayers for you, Arthur , Arty, Garrett, and all of Mary’s family.

Mary, you were a sweet soul and taken too soon! You will be missed and remembered by many people including me! Not seeing you and sitting next to you at Lisa’s monthly crops will be missed for sure! A fond memory is Lisa’s cat always jumped up on your table and tried to sit on your stuff! That cat sure liked you! I will miss you and your smile so much! Love you sweet lady!

Mary was such a special person. I never had to be told she was a Christian. Being in her presence you could tell without her speaking a word. I will miss her. Jenny Jones
