Dora Lee Carter, 81, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on December 10,2024 after a long life well lived.
Dora was born on September 30,1943 to Eddie and Mattie Carter in Lawtey, FL. As a child, Dora would sell strawberries on 301 with her brothers. Later she started her job at Prudential. While at Prudential she worked her way up to a supervisor role. She would retire from there and be an active member in the Prudential retirement club.
During her retirement, Dora volunteered at Memorial Hospital. She volunteered for 17 years and 5 months, 7,340 hours. She was passionate about her volunteer work.
Also, during her retirement years she kept her great great niece, Nicky Love. Dora loved Jenifer as the daughter she never had and Tera, Nicky Love, Emy and Fenway as her grandchildren.
She had a special place in her heart for all of her many nieces, nephews, family and friends that became family.
Dora’s friends were very special to her. She had numerous friendships that lasted over fifty years. They would frequent 57 heaven, Miller Ale House, eat oysters, go to Flamingo Lake and create many more memories.
Dora loved to travel, fish, party and spend time with family. She lived a full life. She would say, “You only live once” preceded by her famous dance moves.
Services will be held at Fraser Funeral Home on December 20,2024 at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Nicky Love’s Dominican Republic mission trip. She loved God, Nicky Love and a cold beverage most in life.

We extend our prayers and condolences to Dora’s family and friends. Dora made fun contagious to those around her. She fished and ate the catch with me, my sons, Ray and Scott, and brother Steve many times. Goodbye to a true friend and “thanks for the memories.”
