Betty Lou Barnhill (Langley), born December 13, 1945, in Hemingway, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. The daughter of the late Legrand and Leatha (Powell) Langley. Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnny Barnhill; her parents; her brother, Tommy Langley; and her sisters, Dot Tilton and Lula Belle Walker. She is survived by her three daughters: Angie Mitchell, Becky McCalip (Steve), and Amy Winstead (Jon); eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her brothers David Langley and Robbie Langley (Lisa); her sisters Peggy Nettles (Ted), Carolyn Tisdale, and Frances Brabham; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Betty found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved sitting outside on the swing reading her Bible and drinking her coffee; tending to her flower garden; solving word search puzzles; spending time at the beach or Disney World with family; and visits to her family in South Carolina where she loved to cook everyone her specialties (requested every visit), Lasagna, Chicken Salad, and Sausage Balls. Her greatest happiness came from being surrounded by her loved ones. Sunday dinners at her table with her children and grandchildren were among her most cherished moments. She treated everyone who visited like family and always had a plate of food and a glass of her sweet tea. Betty’s warmth and devotion to family will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she held dear.
