With heartfelt love and profound sorrow, the family of Alton Bruce Cooke—fondly known as ‘Little Papa’ to those dearest to him—announces his peaceful passing on July 15, 2025, at the age of 89.
A proud resident of Jacksonville, Florida, Alton lived a life marked by service, dedication, and simple joys. He served his country honorably as a Navy Veteran and later worked as a maintenance supervisor for over 20 years before retiring.
Alton was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Mary (Troublefield) Cooke and Frank Cooke; his brothers, Jesse Roy and Robert Cooke; his sister, Doris Cooke; his sons, Johnny Cooke and Jackie Cooke; and his grandson, Alton Bruce Cooke III. Though he has joined them in rest, his memory continues to shine brightly in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
He is survived by his two children: his son, Alton Cooke Jr. and wife Jeanie Cooke; as well as his daughter Barbara Lamb. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a constant source of pride and joy in his life.
Alton will be fondly remembered not only for his dedication and service, but also for the simple joys he embraced—his love for fishing, his sweet tooth during snack time, and the fun he found in trying his luck with the occasional scratch-off ticket. These small pleasures brought him comfort and happiness throughout his life, and they will remain cherished memories for those who knew him best.
His legacy is one of quiet strength, deep love, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
