Sidney Suzanne Lamey

March 07, 1950~July 17, 2025

Sidney Suzanne Stevenson (“Ooggie”) Lamey, 75, of Moss Point, MS, passed away on July 17, 2025, in Jacksonville, FL. Suzanne was born on March 7, 1950, in Memphis, TN. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Moss Point, SBC.She deeply loved her best friend and husband, Donny, with whom she shared 52 wonderful years of marriage. They were true partners—in life, in work, and in love. From raising a family with three children to being office partners, they truly completed each other. You rarely saw one without the other.Suzanne was a graduate of Hattiesburg High School, Class of 1968, and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. For 46 years, she served alongside Donny at State Farm Insurance, living out the company motto by being a good neighbor and always being there for others. She was an active member of the Moss Point Women’s Club and served in many roles over the years. While raising three active children and driving countless “taxi” miles, she still found time to serve as a PTO leader at West Elementary, a Cub Scout troop leader, Girl Scout troop leader, and a Sunday School teacher.Later in life, as Ooggie, she developed a love for pottery, creating and selling many “Ooggie Originals.” Family time meant everything to Suzanne. She cherished hours in the garage with her family, making candles, stained glass, pottery, stepping-stones, tie-dye shirts—anything that brought them together. After surviving breast cancer, she proudly participated in “Bras Across the River,” crafting creative bras with her family to raise breast cancer awareness.Family dinners and weekend cookouts were a regular in the Lamey home—whether it was hamburgers, barbecue chicken, or Saturday night steaks, Suzanne made sure everyone felt welcome and cared for. She always had her favorite cookies ready to share, the perfect sweet ending to a night of good food, laughter, and togetherness.Suzanne’s gentle love and kindness were evident in how she cared for others, always giving generously and anticipating needs before they were spoken. She and Donny made time to watch the sunset on Beardslee Lake and prioritized making memories with her family. She had a gift for making everyone feel seen, loved, and valued.Suzanne and Donny often shared the quote: “On life’s road, it’s not where you go but who’s by your side that makes the difference.” Her family is at peace knowing this isn’t goodbye, but—as she would say—“Down the road.”She was preceded in death by her husband, Donny Lamey, and her parents, Jessie and Nancy Stevenson.Left to cherish her memory are her son, Donald C. (Julie) Lamey, Jr.; daughters, Kristi Lamey and Tiffany Lamey; granddaughter, Meagan Lamey; sister, Lisa (Mike) Rogers; brother-in-law, Noel (Donna) Lamey; sister-in-law, Nancy Lamey; nieces, Destiny (Jody) Dunn, Clare (Richard)
Stegall, and Loren Rogers; along with numerous great-nieces, a great-nephew, other relatives, and friends.
