Casey Maria Hendricks, age 35, passed away, October 16, 2023. Casey was born September 1, 1988, in Jacksonville, Florida, to her parents Susan Renee Hurst and Thomas Earl Tapley. She was a small-town girl living in a big city.
Casey was a real cowgirl. She spent her formative years riding horses and competing in rodeos. She loved animals, at least as much as people. She loved working with horses and cattle and showed an interest in veterinary work. Casey would later support her family by supervising construction projects. It was a job she became proud of and instilled confidence in herself to learn, grow and accomplish things she thought she may never be able to do on her own. Casey was a dreamer, but she was also one of the toughest women you’d ever meet. Her life embodied the idea of getting right back up after being bucked off a horse. She longed to raise her family on a farm someday.
Casey loved you with her whole heart. There was no one she loved more than her little girl, Raelynn. She dreamed of being a mama for a long time. She prayed, hoped, and waited. When her dream finally came true, Raelynn became Casey’s whole world, and Casey hers. Casey enjoyed simple things in life like riding horses, bonfires, and time with friends and family. She loved helping people. With her last breath, she gave all that she had so that others could have life, and hope for the future. 150 people will live the rest of their lives carrying a piece of our sweet Casey with them.
Casey was preceded in death by her mother, Susan Hurst. She is survived by her daughter, Raelynn Hendricks, a sister, Victoria Tapley, two brothers, Joshua Tapley and Michael Hurst, and her father Thomas Earl Tapley. She leaves behind an army of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends who are so grateful for having had her in their lives, but who will never be the same in a world without her. Casey will be laid to rest beside her mother, Susan Hurst, at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville, Florida.
A visitation will be held on Thursday October 26,2023 from 6pm-8pm at Fraser’s Funeral Home located at 8168 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32221. Funeral services will be held at the same location the following day, October 27, 2023, at 11am.
If friends and family would like to provide financial support for Raelynn in lieu of flowers, donations can be made via Venmo (username: @jtapley05).

I will never forget all of the years of memories we have as children growing up you were my best friend, all the laughs and dreams you, me, and Bayle would come up with. All the sneaking out on the horses. Everything will stay with me forever I can’t believe you are gone, you will forever be missed ❤️💔🫶🥹

We knew Casey from the years she came and helped us with our goats and donkeys. We grew so fond of Casey and thought so highly of her. It was wonderful to see her how much she loved being Raelynn’s mom. We are very saddened by the news of Casey’s passing.
