Charles “Mack” Hutson, age 90, went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2025. He was born on October 28, 1934 in Ridgeland, South Carolina, to the parents of Harold and Alma Hutson. Mack graduated from Fort Pierce High School (Florida) in 1953 and went on to attend Stetson University, Norman Park Baptist College and Tulane University. He was ordained to the ministry in 1954 at the Parkview Baptist Church in Ft. Pierce, Florida. He married Alice “Marie” Hansen in May of 1956, and they were together for 67 years when God called Marie home November 2023.
Mack’s theological training included Florida Baptist Theological College (Graceville, FL), and New Orleans Baptist Theological College, earning a Bachelor of Theology degree in 1960. He would later earn a Masters degree in Bible Theology from the International Bible Seminary (Plymouth, FL 1984).
While serving several churches as Pastor during his education years, Mack and Marie served in full-time ministry at the 79th Street Baptist Church (Miami, FL), First Baptist Church (Lake Placid, FL), Woodstock Park Baptist Church (Jacksonville, FL), First Baptist Church (Punta Gorda, FL), and the Higdonville Baptist Church (Franklin, NC). It is during his pastorate years that he became known as “Brother Mack”, a name that was most endearing to him. During his 60 years of ministry, he also received numerous honors and recognitions for his faithful service to the Lord and His work.
Brother Mack is survived by his sister O’Neda Williams, daughter Sharon (Jimmy), son Bruce (Lori), son Steve; 4 grandchildren, Brian (Amanda), Bret (Amanda), Cara (Matt), Catie (Jonathan), and 6 great grandchildren. Mack loved his family and was very proud of each of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

My condolences. Brother Mack and his family came to Woodstock when I was in 7th grade. I am now 61 years old but can still remember him preaching and the great memories made with Bruce, Steve and Sharon. My prayers are with the family and take comfort in the many families touched by Brother Mack.

Sending love and condolences to the family. Bro. Mack was more than just a pastor I served under, he drew me in to serve alongside. We shared almost 12 yrs of ministry and friendship in Punta Gorda. He was like a ministry dad and mentor. Many lessons learned have been applied to the last 25 years of ministry. I have tried to pass along his ministry spirit and lessons.
