Christie Michelle Hunter
December 14, 1990 – July 12, 2025

Christie Michelle Hunter, a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on July 12, 2025, at the age of 34, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She faced every challenge with grace, grit, and a quiet strength that never wavered.

Born on December 14, 1990, Christie grew up with a big heart and an even bigger love for life. She adored horses, cowboy boots, and spent much of her childhood riding, exploring the outdoors, and chasing the simple joys that made her feel free. That country spirit stayed with her throughout her life — grounded, warm, and always a little wild in the best way. She also enjoyed road trips, hanging out by a pool, and was always down for a game of cards.

A proud graduate of Ed White High School, Christie was known for her kindness, quick wit, and calm presence. She had a way of making people feel seen and cared for — whether in a quiet conversation or with a simple smile that said, “I’m here”. Even on the hardest days, she showed up for the people she loved and found a way to laugh, give, and connect.

Christie’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her husband, Jake Hunter, and their two daughters, Olivia Rose and Elizabeth Ann, who were the center of her world. She poured her heart into being a mom — treasuring the everyday moments, from bedtime stories to birthday cakes and everything in between.

She is also survived by her parents, Carlena Hilliard Purcell and James Purcell; her older sister, Melanie Templeton (David); and her twin sister, Nicole Purcell, her lifelong best friend. Christie shared a rare and beautiful bond with Nicole that only twins truly understand. She is lovingly remembered by her aunt Amanda Young and many cousins, including Amy Young (Kevin), Michael Young, Christian Young, Chad Chitty, Chuckie Chitty, and more.

Christie was preceded in death by her Aunt Amelia Chitty (Chuck) and Uncle Robert Young, who now hold her close once again.

Though cancer tested her body, it never touched her spirit. Christie chose to live fully — to love without limits, to show up for
others, and to find joy in the everyday. She showed us what it means to be strong, to care deeply, and to never lose sight of what matters most.

Her absence leaves a deep ache, but her memory is a gift we will carry with us always. She will be missed more than words can say.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Olivia and Elizabeth’s education fund. Please contact Nicole or Melanie for more information.

I will always cherish the day Christie and I drove a few hours hauling her horse to be delivered to a Dreams Come True child whose dream it was to have a horse. Christie was so excited about this dream child and presenting her with her own beloved horse. My heart and prayers are with you all. I pray the wonderful memories of this beautiful soul soon push the pain of her loss aside and bring smiles, laughter and love.
