Clyde Otis Smith, age 78 of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025. Clyde was born on December 22, 1946 in Jacksonville, Fl to the parents of Harold and Juanita Smith. Clyde was a wild child in his younger days, but he saw the light and changed his world. His mission was to help the fatherless and homeless. He believed that’s what God wanted him to do. Clyde served his country in the US Army for 8 years, having served in the Vietnam War. After serving in the Army, Clyde became and Iron Worker until he retired in 2001. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Juanita Smith, his brothers, Randy and Mike Smith, a son, Clyde Smith, Jr. and a sister, Nancy May.He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joann Smith, a son, Frank Pitman (Jill), his brothers, Wayne Smith, David Smith (Cathy) and Doug Smith (Pam) and a sister, Alice Stephens, 5 grandchildren and one great granddaughter, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is Loved and will be missed dearly.
Funeral services will be held, Sunday, January 12, 2025 at 10:00Am in the chapel of Fraser Funeral Home,8168 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32221 with US Army Honors and Rev. Steven Aman officiating. Interment will be in Jacksonville National Cemetery on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 11:00am.
