Cora Isabel Brooks, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on Tuesday, January 09, 2024 after 92 wonderful years.
Isabel was born on October 28, 1931 in McRae, GA to the late Mannie and Sara Pitts. The family relocated to Marietta, Fl when she was young and spent the rest of her life in and around Jacksonville. While attending Robert E. Lee High School she played on the All-City Women’s Softball, Volleyball and Basketball teams. After graduating, Class of 1950, she met her future husband and love of her life, Frank Brooks. Frank and Isabel had a loving marriage that spanned over 69 years and together they raised two loving children. Gail and Bobby. She also had a career and retired from Equitable Insurance Company in Jacksonville.
Outside of work, Isabel always kept herself busy. She spent many years as a dedicated member of the Daughters of the Nile, a partner organization of the Shriners, through which she and Frank made many of their nearest and dearest friends. During the time she eventually served a term as Queen of Jacksonville’s KHEM Temple and supported Frank during his tenure with the Morocco Shrine.
Aside from the Daughters of the Nile Isabel loved spending time with her family, long talks on the telephone with relatives, and especially cherished her weekend garage sale bargain hunting. As she gained the titles of Grandmother and Great Grandmother, she always showed love, kindness, dedication, and generosity (and occasional spoiling) to each new member of the family.
Isabel’s zest for life and whatever was put before her to do, she gave 110% without concern for herself. She had an unending, unconditional love for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was so very proud of them and they were her greatest joy. She will be missed by all of us greatly.
She is preceded in death by her brothers, sisters, husband, Frank Brooks, and daughter, Gail Adams. She is survived by her dedicated son, Bobby Brooks, granddaughters, Beth Friedlin and Jamey (Mark) Moran, grandsons, Cody (Liz) Adams and Cameron (Gabreille) Adams as well as her five great grandsons, Tyler Friedlin, Cayden Moran, Logan Moran, Ryder Moran and Cameron Adams, Jr., and one great granddaughter Gwendolyn Adams.
A funeral service will be held at the Fraser Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Blvd. at 11:30am on Monday, January 15, 2024 with Pastor Ray Mayfield officiating. She will be laid to rest after the service at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. The visitation will be from 10:30am until service time.

The word that comes to mind for me when I think of Aunt Isabel is Class. She exhibited poise in all situations throughout her life. Her brand of genteel southern lady made the world a nicer place.
