David Bruce Young Sr., 76, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully
on April 22, 2025. A loving husband, devoted father, proud grandpa, and
loyal friend, David’s legacy is one of dedication, strength, and quiet
kindness.
Born on December 23, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, David built a life centered
around hard work and family. He worked as a Supervisor and Cal Lab
Foreman at NAS Jacksonville NADEP, where he never missed a day of work,
retiring at age 59 after a long and respected career. After retirement, he
continued doing what he loved by working at Bent Creek Golf Course,
combining his passion for golf with his strong work ethic.
David was married to the love of his life, Kathleen Mueller Young, for 54
years. Together, they created a strong and loving home, raising a family and
building a life full of memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Phillip and Gladys Young;
his daughter, Michelle Marie Young; and his siblings Judith Graves, Buddy
Young, Kenneth Young, and Margie Young.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen; his son, David Bruce Young Jr.;
his granddaughter Daelyn and her husband Jason; and his granddaughter
Ansley.
David had a passion for RC planes, golf, and cheering on the Jacksonville
Jaguars. He served as President of the Westside Senior Men’s Golf
Association, where his leadership and friendship were deeply appreciated.
He was also a great brother—always supportive, thoughtful, and quick to
lend a hand or share a laugh with those he loved.
Above all, David will be remembered as a devoted husband, a steady and
supportive father, a doting grandpa, and a caring brother whose quiet
strength and kind heart touched all who knew him.
