May 01, 1947~May 24, 2025

Donald Burns Lee Agnew, age 78, of Jacksonville, Florida, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
Born on May 1, 1947, in Washington, D.C., Don was the beloved son of the late Donald Burns Agnew and Virginia-Lou Penn. He earned a Bachelor of Psychology from Old Dominion University and spent his career doing what he loved most—storytelling and connecting people through media. A gifted television producer, Don worked in various capacities before finding his professional home at Channel 7 Public Television in Jacksonville, where he worked for over 40 years. He had a lifelong interest in politics and often served as a commentator for Jacksonville City Council meetings, helping viewers better understand the local issues shaping their community. He was especially proud of *The Poll Cats*, a panel discussion series that brought together political voices from all sides to address important topics and their impact on Jacksonville. His work was not just a career but a calling, and he poured his heart into it every day.
Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Betty Ann Agnew; his daughters Morgen Wodarczyk of Belleville, Illinois, and McKenzie Sefa (Craig) of Concord, North Carolina; and his cherished grandchildren—Cody Agnew and Ariana Sefa. He also leaves behind his sister Mitzi Agnew Giles (Ed) of Lake Worth, Florida; niece Lara Russell, nephew Scott Giles, and several great-nieces and great-nephews. His love for his family was deep and unwavering, and his presence will be profoundly missed.
A man of quiet strength and joyful spirit, Don was active in the Men’s Garden Club during his younger years and later found great delight in his Mazda Miata, proudly participating in the Miata Club of America. He even hosted Miataville, a unique event at Channel 7 where members drove their Miatas into the studio, which had been transformed into a nostalgic drive-in theater. He had a kind heart, a gentle soul, and a wonderful sense of humor that endeared him to everyone he met.
Don’s faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life. He was a committed member of Riverstone Community Church, where he found deep fellowship and spiritual growth under the leadership of Pastor Rick Baldwin. His life reflected the love of Christ through his kindness, humility, and servant’s heart.
As we remember Don, we give thanks for a life well-lived, a heart fully given to others, and a soul now at rest in the presence of the Lord.
