Doris Jean Grant (Lemmon), 72, of Jacksonville, Florida, died on Saturday, Nov 2, 2024, at St Vincent’s Hospital Riverside surrounded by her family after an extended illness.

A memorial service to celebrate Doris’s life will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the Jacksonville First Seventh-Day Adventist Church at 7951 Lennox Ave, Jacksonville, Florida 32221.

Doris is survived by her husband, Kenneth E Grant Sr; her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas III (Tommy) and Maria Lemmon of Henderson, Nevada; 4 children, son and daughter-in-law Kenneth Jr (Skip) and Sandy Grant of Macon, Georgia, daughter Candi Grant of Jacksonville, Florida, daughter and son-in-law Tamra and Jose Da Silva of Lincoln, California, and daughter and son-in-law Brandi and James Byrne Jr of Haslet, Texas. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Lane Turner, Deric Da Silva, Grant Da Silva, Kenneth E Grant III (Trey/Malcom), Wesley Byrne, Dominic Byrne and Lorelai Byrne along with 4 Great Grandchildren and many many loved extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents Betty Jean Smith (McCarter) and Thomas H Lemmon II.

Doris was born September 11, 1952, in Memphis, Tennessee where she met and fell in love with Kenneth E Grant Sr. They spent their military lives traveling throughout the United States raising their family before retiring to Jacksonville. She was an active member and MasterGuide in the Pathfinder organization. Doris was a compassionate caregiver, homemaker, and mentor. She enjoyed time spent with family, cheering on her Jaguars, Hallmark Movies, creating and giving away crafts/ homemade goods, and collecting things that made her smile like tea pots and cardinals. Her favorite holiday was Christmas – all year long.
