Dorothy “Dot” Lavern Brightwell, age 92 of Keystone Heights, Florida, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on January 31, 2025. Dorothy was born on April 6, 1932 to Morgan and Thelma Prevatt in High Springs, Florida.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sons, Charles Ray Vlacos, and George Edwin Vlacos, Granddaughter Christine Vlacos along with several brothers and sisters.
Dorothy loved the Lord and was an active member in church all of her life . She was very musically talented on the piano and bass guitar. Her lifelong passion was playing and singing the Gospel in church and various local Christian events.
Dorothy was a very kind soul and was always there to help anyone in need at anytime. She loved sharing her love of the Lord with all.
Dorothy is survived by her brother, Jackie Goolsby (Frances), her three children, John Douglas Vlacos (Bonnie), Mary Elizabeth Vlacos, and Billy Franklin Vlacos. Grandchildren, Angi Brannan (Ronnie), Michelle Knight, Tina Andrews ( Mark), Micheal Miller (Ginger), Dianne Miller (Andy), Joseph Vlacos, Wendy Vlacos, Taylor Hager (Peter) and Rachel Vlacos. Eleven Great Grandchildren and Six Great Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Grandchild on the way.
Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 12:00PM in the chapel of Fraser Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Fl 32221 with Pastor Steven Williams officiating followed by interment in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

I know when our LORD is handing out our appointed jobs in heaven, Aunt Dot’s will be singing lead in songs of praise and Hallelujah to our King! Rest in peace sweet sister until we all are united in his presence. We will miss you around the reunion table. 🥹❤️
