George Elvin Akridge
Born 6/11/1936, he was raised in Ashburn, Ga by his parents Ola and Edward Akridge with 3 brothers, Ray, Paul and Garvin and 2 sisters Linda and Brenda and many other extended family, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Elvin passed away on March 13th 2023
He had 4 children, Evon, Ed, Peggy and Candy. 9 grandchildren, TC, Katee, April, Peggysue, Ruth, Elvin, Thomas, Little Spencer, and Greg, 10 great grandchildren, Kylee, Katelyn, Bailey, Annie, Madi, Gage, Ava, Zach, BrayLeigh, and Bristol and 1 great great grandchild. Wade.
He was a very quiet, gentle man who was loved by all. He loved, animals, fishing, and spending time with family and of course watching his Georgia Bulldogs play, but most importantly, he loved the Lord with all of his heart.
After finishing school Elvin joined the navy in October in 1954. He moved to Jacksonville in 1967 where he retired after serving 22 years. He went on to work at Western Auto and went to night school for refrigeration and appliances. He also worked in civil service at Nadep Jax, Fl where he also retired.
Elvin will be laid to rest at Gethsemene Memorial Gardens, 800 Hammond Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32221 inside Trinity Baptist Church campus. Arrangements by Fraser Funeral Home.

I will always remember Uncle Elvin as a focused loving man. We talked from time to time and he never failed to ask about my Dad (his brother), my family, and my health. This shows his love for family as well as caring for others which is a Christian characteristic. I will miss our conversations, however, I am glad he no longer has to live in pain and agony.
