Leonard F. Abbott

January 16, 1941~December 14, 2024

Leonard “Fred” Abbott, 83, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Saturday December 14th. He was the most loving and caring person you would ever meet, but most importantly he was the best father and husband. He loved all his family with all his heart!

The eldest of three children, he was born on January 16th in Jacksonville. He graduated Robert E. Lee High School and shortly thereafter started his career at Bell South where he eventually gained his nickname “Biggin”.

He never met a stranger, always had a smile on his face, and a story to tell! For those who knew Fred, he will be sorely missed.

He is preceded in death by is wife of 55 years, Sandra Abbott, his son Lenny Abbott, his father Leonard Abbott and his mother Lillie Abbott.

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa (Joel), his son David, sisters Patricia and Barbara, fiancé Yvonne, daughter-in-law Shari, grandchildren; Jessica (Matt), Joshua (Sharon), Jay, Aaron, Hannah (Morris), William, Brittany (Matt) and 12 great grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Fred often told his family “There are bad things that happen all the time but there is also good. Always try to find the good!”

Find the good….

So sorry for Fred’s passing. My cousin Fred has always been there for our entire family no matter what was going on. When I would come down to Florida to visit, he would always have a room for me to stay in and we would ride around in his big old car in Florida and he would show me how it has grown. This guy will truly be missed by so many people. Love ya. Eddie & Susan Franco

I met Fred at the old Raymond yard for Southern Bell in 1964. We later worked as installers. After retirement we were a part of a telecom breakfast group that meets monthly. Fred attended when he was able and enjoyed catching up and telling telephone ear stories. We will miss his presence and he will be remembered for his kindness.
