Michael LaFrance Nichols, 56, of Jacksonville, FL, peacefully passed away on March 16th, 2025, with his wife and son by his side. His tragic passing was a result of complications from a stroke caused by his life-long battle with Sickle Cell disease.
Mike was born on February 18th, 1969, to Jacqueline Hicks in the city of St. Augustine, FL. After Mike graduated from Pentecostal Academy, he pursued a degree in Lab Technology at Career Comm Technical School.
In 1993, he met the love of his life, Brenda and they married in May of 2000. Mike and Brenda share a son, Michael “Avery”, one grandson, Michael “Kingston” and their loyal dachshund, Tyson.
Mike retired in 2012 and then spent his time pursuing his love of music, movies (especially of the Marvel/DC genre), family game nights, and the beach. But above all, Mike’s happiness came from any time spent with his friends and family. During the last two years, overwhelming joy fulfilled Mike’s life as he spent his time being a Pap-Pap to Kingston. His time with Kingston included reading books, taking trips, and creating special memories.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda, his loving son, Avery, his grandson, Kingston, and his dog, Tyson. He is also survived by his mother, Jacqueline Hicks, his sister, Tammie Sawyer (Ray), 3 nieces, 5 nephews and 2 Godchildren. He will be missed by many family members and friends who adored his unique personality and fun-loving spirit.
A Memorial Service will be held for Michael, Sunday, March 30, 2025 at 2PM in the chapel of Fraser Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Blvd., Jax., Fl 32221 (904)-781-4314.
