Sadie Elvin Polk, aged 92, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024, in Jacksonville, Florida. Born on January 15, 1932, in Clay Hill, Florida, Sadie lived a vibrant life characterized by her love for music, family, friends, and her signature cold Natty Light.

Sadie was preceded in death by her parents Edward Carter and Mattie Carter ” Tanner”. Her loving husband, Burton Alfred Polk “Nick,” Daughters Rose “Nicky” Cooey and Inez “90” Floyd, siblings Wilbert, Allen, Clayton, Russell “R.D.”, Charles Carter, Christie Bell Tillman and Annie Ree Myers.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and joyful memories with her grandchildren: Angie Cruz-Hernandez (Oscar), Jennifer Powell (Ricky), and Pebbles Walker (Gary). Her great-grandchildren Trent Boan, Tera Torres (Pablo), Terry Criswell, Kayla Thomas, Edward Thomas, Nicky Cooey, Emy Powell, and Fenway Powell, along with great-great-grandchildren Trent Jr., Davon Green, Yuri Criswell and Baby Torres, will miss her dearly. She is also survived by her sister, Dora Carter, and brother, Randy Carter (Barbara), along with several nieces and nephews.

Sadie owned and operated Sadie’s Place, a beloved local bar where she poured not just drinks but her heart, making everyone who walked in feel like family. Her passions extended beyond her career as she cultivated beauty in her garden, hunted for treasures at yard sales, and expressed her love through cooking and spending time with her family.

Family, friends, and those whose lives Sadie touched are invited to the Fraser Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Florida, to reminisce, grieve, and support each other. Visitation will be held from 9 am to 10 am on July 13, 2024, followed by the service from 10 am to 11 am. The burial will take place immediately after the service at Kingsley Lake, 6289 Mary Dot Lane, Starke, Florida.

Sadie’s spirit and joy will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
What an amazing life she lived may we cherish all the amazing memories we have with her.
