Shirley Johns, 87, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away peacefully at home on August 14, 2024, exactly as she wished, surrounded by her family and the comfort of the place she had called home for 59 years.
Born and raised in Jacksonville and its surrounding areas, Shirley led a life full of love and dedication. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, George Scott Johns Sr.; her eldest daughter, Deborah Elaine Johns; her grandson, Zach; her great-grandson, Dalton; and her nine siblings.
Shirley is lovingly remembered by her surviving children: Gail Johns Morton, George Scott Johns Jr., and Darren Brian Johns. She is also survived by her โHeart-Picked Sister,โ Faye Huggins, and a cherished host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
For the last 15 years of her working life, Shirley worked as a nanny, extending her maternal care to many and earning the affection of those she cared for, who fondly called her “Nana.” Known for her exceptional crafting skills, she was most renowned for her cooking and baking, which brought joy to all who had the pleasure of her culinary creations.
A devoted Christian, Shirleyโs faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she is now in the presence of Jesus, whom she loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Haven Hospice of Orange Park in her name: https://beyourhaven.org/donate
