Shirley Jean Scrogins went home to be with the Lord on April 13, 2025. She was born in Jacksonville, FL, on January 24, 1953.
Jeanie was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who left us far too soon. Her life was a testament to love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family.
She was married to the love of her life, Big Ray. Together, they created a beautiful life and a family full of cherished memories.
She was a loving mother to their two sons, Andy and Ray, whom she loved beyond words. She took great pride in watching them grow into the men they are today.
Jeanie adored her grandchildren. They meant the world to her. She loved watching them play sports and treasured every moment spent creating memories together.
Her faith in God was the foundation of her life, guiding her through joy, trials, and pain.
She was a woman of remarkable strength and compassion. Her heart was as generous as it was kind, always giving without hesitation.
Though she is no longer with us, Jeanie’s spirit lives on in all the relationships she blessed us with and the love she poured into her family.
While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
Jeanie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray, and her parents, JL and Myrtice Phillips. She is survived by her sons, Andy (Jessy) and Ray II (Ashley); her grandchildren: Andrew, Matthew, Summer, Ray III, and Jace; her brothers, Jimmy (Glenda) and Jody (Susan); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held on April 22,2025 from 9:30-11:00 with a memorial service to immediately follow at Westside Baptist Church 7775 Herlong Road, Jacksonville, FL 32210.

Jeanie and Big Ray were apart of our lives for 30+ years. Raising kids and then watching them become parents was something we enjoyed together. Losing my fishing/hunting/ bbq partner Ray, and now Jeanie is just heartbreaking to Linda and me. We will cherish their memories and thank God for the time we had together. She’s back with Big Ray and in that we can take some comfort.

I was not expecting to say goodbye to my longest and dearest friend. We have been friends 63 years and alot of wonderful memories we made and will always be with me. She definately loved her family and I know they are hurting too! It’s God’s timing and not ours. I am thankful for the time we had and will miss her alot! Love you my friend! Marsha

I am sorry for the loss of a sweet friend. I would loved to have come to the service but I was unable to do so. I am in a rehabilitation center recovering from an injury. My prayers are with the family that God gives your family comfort and strength while grieving. Glory to God that Jeanie is walking on the streets of gold with our Lord.
