Thomas Alan Holden, 62, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Friday morning, June 20, 2025. Born on October 11, 1962, Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Roger Dean Holden and Louise June Holden, and his precious daughter, Jamie Renee Holden.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Holden; his children, Sean McGrane (Karisa), Joshua Holden (Brooke), Kayla James (Seth), and Ashley Holden-Medina (Adrian); his siblings, Lori Taylor (Pat), William “Bill” Holden, and Sue Marvin (Todd); and five adored grandchildren—three grandsons and two granddaughters. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and several other extended family members.
Thomas was deeply loved by his wife, children, and grandchildren, who will carry his memory in their hearts forever. A man of deep faith, Thomas served as a deacon at Promise Land Baptist Church, where he was known for his humble spirit, servant’s heart, and unwavering commitment to his church family. From 2006 to 2019, he dedicated himself to international mission work in Mexico, Costa Rica, and especially in Panama, where he worked closely with the Ngäbe-Buglé tribe—building lasting relationships and sharing the love of Christ through both word and action.
Thomas was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed following his teams, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. Whether celebrating milestones, lending a helping hand, or simply enjoying the day-to-day moments, he gave of himself freely and fully.
He also had a playful, mischievous sense of humor that brought laughter to everyone around him. With a well-timed comment or a harmless prank, Thomas had a gift for making people laugh.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a faithful friend. His life was a testimony of compassion, service, and unwavering love for his Lord and his family—and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
The viewing will be held at 10:00 AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Promise Land Baptist Church located at 10343 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32221 on Saturday, June 28, 2025 . Interment will take place immediately afterward at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens at 800 Hammond Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32221.
