Born in 1956 to Catherine Rita Culeton (Cocco) and William N. Cocco Sr. at Manhattan General Hospital, NYC. Predeceased by his father William N. Sr, mother Catherine R., and sister Barbara. Survived by his wife of 45 years; Robbie Cocco, his sister Cathy, children Eric, Brittany, and Catherine; 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; 5 nieces and a nephew.
Bill Cocco, 67, of Jacksonville, FL is a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. “Billy” was raised in Howell Township, NJ and graduated from Howell Highschool and joined the Navy. He retired a respected U.S. Navy Master Chief in 1999 after 24 years of dedicated service and a part of the disestablishment of NAS Cecil Field, Jacksonville, FL. Also, he retired after 20 years of committed service at Home Depot; Jacksonville, FL. Described by his shipmates and close friends as the “Gold Standard” of Navy Master Chiefs and a tireless community volunteer. Bill loved his family, the Navy, Bruce Springsteen, the Florida Gators, the Jacksonville Jaguars and NASCAR.
Bill spent his retirement volunteering and serving happily for several non-profits including: “Wreaths Across America,” the Lake City VA local domicile cooking and serving meals, and the the Sunshine State Veterans fund, LLC which granted dental care for veterans without dental benefits.
He was diagnosed with aggressive stage 4 lung cancer in November 2023 and passed peacefully 4 months later in the loving arms of his wife Robbie also surrounded by his family. In 51 days (about 1 month 3 weeks) spent in the Serenity Place at the VA Medical Center; Lake City, FL he logged over 400 visits from friends and family.
Master Chief Bill Cocco has embarked on his next journey, and we express gratitude to those who visited, reached out, prayed for, and showered love upon him. Your kind words demonstrate the profound impact one person can have on humanity! The legacy of Master Chief Bill Cocco lives on through the countless hearts he has touched. Let us continue to uplift and inspire each other as he would have.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know first hand how exhausting it can be caring for a love one during this difficult time. I am thankful Bill was there for my grandchildren (our) and loved them unconditionally. I pray for peace and comfort for Robbie and all the family. I know he will be missed! May you lean heavy on the Lord for he will comfort you!
