Raymond Lawrence Scrogins, 71, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Monday, March 7, 2022. He was born in Jacksonville, Fl on January 27, 1951, to George & Jean Scrogins. Raymond, also known as “Big Ray,” was predeceased by his father his brother, James Scrogins, and an infant brother, George Scrogins Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Jeanie, sons, Andy (Jessy) and Ray II (Ashley) and five grandchildren that he absolutely adored, Andrew, Matthew, Summer, Ray III & Jace. Mother, Jean, brothers, Bobby, and Billy (Valerie), sister, Linda Donovan (Bill) and many cousins, nieces, and nephews

Raymond grew up in Jacksonville and attended the Bolles School. After graduating from Saint Andrews Presbyterian College, he returned to Jacksonville and began his lifelog career as a commercial painting contractor and proud owner of Florida Paint Company.

Big Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, smoking food, classic cars, antiques, and most of all spending time with his family and enjoyed both of his daughters in law’s cooking. He had a huge heart and found great joy in spoiling his family on amazing vacations. We will cherish our memories of happy times with him for many years to come.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at 11:00 am with a memorial service to immediately follow at Westside Baptist Church 7775 Herlong Road, Jacksonville, Fl 32210.

I remember when Jeanie dated Ray and then married him. He always looked out for all around him.
