BRYON ROBERT CROSBY, [66], passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025. He was born on May 20, 1958, in Philadelphia, PA to Marylou and David Crosby.
Bryon lived a life full of love, service, and dedication. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy at the age of 17 in 1977. First Class Petty Officer Crosby served as an Aviator Warfare Specialist, Instrument Repair Instructor during 20 years of service encompassing Dessert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, Operations Provide Comfort, Gulf War, and Urgent Furry. He carried the lessons learned and the bonds forged during his service throughout his life, instilling in his family the importance of patriotism, integrity, and perseverance.
Following a distinguished career in the military, Bryon embarked on a new mission: to inspire young minds. He earned his teaching degree from the University of North Florida and then dedicated 19 years to shaping the lives of students at Pickett Elementary School. Bryon’s commitment to education extended beyond the classroom. He was an active member of the STAR program, served as a Duval Teachers United Representative, and was honored as the 2015 Teacher of the Year, a testament to his passion and dedication.
But above all else, Bryon cherished his family. A devoted husband to Teresa for 32 years and was the proudest father to 3 daughters, Bethany, Shannon and Lauren. His love for them knew no bounds and he was the epitome of love and devotion.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Teresa, his children Bethany Curtin (Taylor), Shannon Crosby (Corey), Lauren Peterson (Tyler), and his five grandchildren Josiah, Titus, Alexander, Liam, and Calista. He is also survived by his brothers David Crosby (Joanna), John Crosby (Linda), his sister Jeanne McDuffie (Bill) and a host of extended family and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A memorial service to celebrate Bryon’s life will be held, Monday, March 10, 2025 at 11:00am in Westside Baptist Church Teachey Chapel, 7775 Herlong Road, Jacksonville, Fl 32210 with Rev. Ray Mayfield officiating followed by interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Fl 32218 at 2:30PM with US Navy Honors.. Bryon lived a life that touched the hearts of many. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, service, and family will live on forever.

Daddy was the perfect role model, the absolute BEST Girl Dad ever and even more so the GREATEST Pops to Liam.
He was always my first phone call. He was the kind of Dad any girl needed. Always there, always showing up no matter what time, the circumstance, how far, how big or even how little I needed him. Every mile stone in my life. He was right there by my side.
He was a strong Man of God and poured every ounce of his being into his family and others. Love is a choice and he loved unconditionally.
I really miss you, Dad. I Love you.

Bryon was such a professional and caring Teacher. He was devoted to helping our STAR students at Pickett Elementary School. He strove to bring them up to grade level in their courses, while working with them on their competence and self-assurance. We often discussed how these efforts were much like working with our junior personnel in the U. S. Navy, teaching them and building them up.
Bryon often shared the joys he experienced being married to Teresa and being father to their three daughters. He spoke about all four, along with his Mother and Brother, with love and respect. We continued to connect after I left Pickett in 2006, through the Teachers Union. Whenever we met, he would revel me with stories about his daughters and their families. There was always a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye when discussing any of them, especially his grandchildren.
Bryon always had a calm and even-keeled demeanor, whether dealing with Administration, Parents, Teachers, or Students. He was patient with all of us, which made him such a great Teacher and Friend. I will miss him dearly!

For 19 years, we worked together. Mr. Crosby was an excellent educator and truly dedicated to the profession and all it entailed; most importantly he was my dear friend. His presence has and will continually be missed at Pickett.
