Calvin H. Burke age 86 of Jacksonville, Florida went home to be with the Lord Monday, May 30, 2022.
Calvin was born November 30, 1935, in Schenectady, New York to Calvin J. and Bertha (Hildreth) Burke. He served in the United States Army 1955-1957. June 25, 1960, he married Carol Bradshaw in Rotterdam Junction, New York. They were married 57 years when Carol passed away November 11, 2015.
Calvin worked for General Electric in Binghamton and Schenectady, New York. He then became a correctional officer for the State of New York until he retired. Upon retirement, Calvin and Carol moved to Jacksonville, Florida to be close to their children and grandchildren.
Calvin is survived by his four children Holly (Todd) Free of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Calvin B. (Maribel) Burke of Jacksonville, Sarah (Daniel) Janus of Jacksonville and Rebekah (Tony) Borra of St. Augustine; nine grandchildren Aaron Free, Brandon (Taylor) Free, Cameron (Stephanie) Free, Justin (Kayla) Burke, Christina Burke, Jolina Janus, Matthew Janus, Luke Janus and Aiden Borra; three great grandchildren Christopher Burke, Emma Burke and Clayton DiNapoli; four sisters Charlene Scher, Cheryl (Joe) Johnson, Susan (Bill) Baumlin and Linda King; one brother Jeffrey Burke.
In addition to his parents Calvin J. Burke and Bertha King, Calvin is preceded in death by his wife Carol and stepmother Helen Burke.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday June 5, 2022, at Trinity Baptist Church, Jacksonville, FL with Pastor Bruce Kehlinhofer officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service Sunday at the church.
