Dozier “Deihl” McKendree

August 02, 1967~December 06, 2021

Dozier Deihl McKendree Sr., Age 54, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 6, 2021, at Haven Hospice in Orange Park, Fl, after a lengthy illness. He was born on August 2, 1967, in Jacksonville, Florida to Tommy and Mary Helen McKendree.

He was a spiritual man attending Blanding Blvd Baptist Church most of his life. He was a Deacon in the church for many years. He played the drums for the services, and played church softball for many years as well. He loved going to church up till his illness no longer permitted him to. He was a 1985 graduate of St. Johns Country Day School. He worked as a Materials Manager with Bridgestone Flowtech from 2003 to 2021, where he loved his job and all of the people he worked with. He also owned and operated Create A Cake, his Mother’s Cake Shop, after she retired. He especially enjoyed working the online business of his shop as well.

Deihl truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: Spending time with his immediate and all of his family, going on trips (especially to Disney with our Disney families), going on long drives (most of the time going nowhere in particular), eating out, finding places we have never been before, watching Soccer, Baseball, (Manchester City), (Atlanta Braves), and Nascar (taking trips to the tracks with his best friend to see Earnhardt Sr.). He loved music and playing drums. He was also a great cook (he learned from his mother). He was a devoted Father, he loved helping DJ (his son) to get his business up and running. His son got the love of playing drums from his daddy.

He is survived by his wife Tammy McKendree, his father and mother Tommy and Mary Helen McKendree, His son DJ McKendree, A brother Gunar (Julie) McKendree, and numerous other family members.

Family and friends, and others whose lives Deihl touched are invited to attend his Memorial Service at Blanding Blvd Baptist Church 5005 Blanding Blvd Jax, FL 32210, at 11 AM on Saturday December 11, 2021. Due to Covid and Family and Friends with weak immune systems Mask are required. Thank you.

In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to Haven Hospice in Orange Park, FL, Shriners Hospital, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to The American Cancer Society.

Deihl had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. He was always so upbeat, and such a blessing to so many during his illness. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, prayers, concern, kindness, and cards shown to them during his lengthy illness and during this hour of bereavement.

May God bless you all!
