Frank E.D. Bird Sr., 73, of Jacksonville, FL passed away peacefully on January 16, 2020 with his loving wife of 53 years by his side. He was born in Jacksonville on December 2, 1946 and attended Andrew Jackson High School. Frank married Kaye (Timberman) Bird on June 1, 1967. He worked for Pilot Freight Carriers and eventually owned his own business operating as a subcontractor for many years. He served in the Army National Guard where he was recognized as a ‘sharpshooter’ and eventually honorably discharged. Although, providing for his family was always his first priority, his love of serving others led him to joining Shriners International. As a Shriner, his efforts helped provide awareness and assistance to disabled children and burn victims. Frank participated in parades throughout the southeastern region and once in Canada during his active Shriner tenure.
He was survived by his wife Kaye. Sons: Frank Jr., (wife Dawn) and Jeff (wife Michi). Grandchildren: Bailey, Dawson, Ernest, Kobe, and Courtney. Brother William Bird, Joe Bird, and Sister Marie Mappin.
He is pre-deceased by his parents (Lois and William) his brother, Fredrick and sister, June.
Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 11:00am in the chapel of Fraser Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32221 with Rev. Debbie Treadwell officiating.
