In Loving Memory of Gene E. Cogburn, Sr.
It is with deep sorrow and and at the same time rejoicing, we are sharing the loss of our dear loved one, Gene E. Cogburn, Sr. Gene passed away on February 28, 2025, at Fouraker Hills Nursing facility, where he was residing temporarily and lost his battle to lung cancer. He fought such a hard fight and he was definitely a fighter.
Gene was a man of many colors, and many talents. He was an Army National Gurad Veteran, having served 3 years in The Army National Guard and 5 more years in the reserves. We want to thank you for your years of service to our country. Gene also enjoyed fishing, mechanic work, pottery creation and photography.
Gene was born on August 18, 1938 in Wauchula, Florida (Hardee County) to the parents of Johnie and Lillie Cogburn. He graduated from high school then joined the Army National Guard. He was married to JoAnn Yarberry and they had four children, a son, Gene E. Cogburn, his three daughters; Ruth A. Thigpen, Linda Bassett and Marcia Fair, his two brothers, Loran and John Cogburn. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren , 23 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Friday, March 21, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Fraser Funeral Home with burial to follow at Gethsamane Mermorial Cemetery.

I love you daddy! Thank you for loving your children! That and the Lord you always did with your whole heart! I can still hear you say take care of my Marci and stay safe and remember Jesus loves you! Those words will always be in my heart!!
