Howard Lee Mercer passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 2:00 AM at the age of 80 years young.
Howard was born on May 31, 1942 in New Martinsville, West Virginia to Ross and Opal Mercer. Howard was one of six children, all of which preceded him in death as well as his youngest son James Leo Mercer at the age of 50.
Howard was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. He never knew a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. His smile was infectious, his laughter contagious. He loved to laugh, tell stories (all of which we heard a million times), yet somehow he made it funnier each time he told them.
Howard was a mechanic by trade and worked hard his entire life to take care of his family who he cherished. He loved cars, gardening, nature, working in the yard, watching sports, fishing and most of all, making those around him laugh.
Surviving Howard is his loving wife of 57 years Rebecca (aka “Hey, ain’t that right Becky”), his son Howard A. Mercer of Jacksonville, Florida. Daughters Christina M. Stackhouse (George) of Sellersburg, Indiana, Anna M. Piacentino of Catawha, Ohio and Robin R. Feliciano (Jack) of Green Cove Springs, Florida, his beloved nephew’s (who he regarded as his sons) Robert R. Masters (Deena) And Raymond H Boggs both of Jacksonville, Florida. 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Fraser Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida 32221 on Saturday, July 30, 2022. Viewing 12:00-2:00 followed by service at 2:00 PM officiated by his great nephew Pastor Jason Masters.
Howards wishes were to celebrate his life at his home which will follow the services.
