Jesus (Jess) Vega,affectionately known as Chuy, a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, passed away on August 27, 2021 after a brief illness. He was 88 years old.

The son of Anarbol and Theodora Vega, Jess grew up in Topeka, Kansas where he was born on April 9, 1933. He attended and graduated from Topeka Senior High School.

After graduation, Jess enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He valued his service highly and attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He served as a radar technician in the Strategic Air Command during The Cold War. During this time he developed a love of photography, playing baseball and bowling.

After his retirement in 1972 Jess attended Jones College in Jacksonville, Florida with a degree in computer science. He then began a second career in data processing at a local bank.

Jess was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Linda, his son Antonio and his sister Josephine. He is survived by his brother Henry, his sister Phil, his daughters Sherry and Dalilah, step daughters April and Donna, grandchildren Alana, Tyler, Cody and Brandi, as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

His loved ones will remember his sense of humor, love of family and his gentle kindness. He was also an avid collector of coins, stamps and various other things.

A service honoring the life of Jesus Vega will be held at Fraser Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30AM, with the service starting at 11:30AM. Internment will be at Jacksonville National Cemetery September 8, 2021 at 1:30 PM.

Oh Uncle,never in my wildest dreams would I think of losing you within 4 months losing mom. You were the best! You had such a good heart and you loved everyone as they did you. You reminded me so much of grandma Vega, now rest in Gods loving arms. Hug mom and dad for me and know we love you all so much and you will always be in my heart. I will miss you terrible!
