Kate Elizabeth Smith, age 30, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 7th 2021. She is survived by her parents, Brad and Donna Smith, her two sisters, Hannah and Chloe Smith and her grandfather, Nelson D. Harris. She is also survived by numerous loving family members.
Kate was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She graduated from Brigham Young University in 2013. Kate was a U.S. History teacher at Fleming Island High School and Clay Virtual Academy for eight years. She was passionate about history and thus was nominated and voted by her peers as Clay County’s Outstanding Social Studies Teacher of the Year 2021.
Kate enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was an accomplished genealogy researcher as well as accomplished crocheter. She loved the beach. She was a devoted Rescue-Greyhound mom to Bowie.
Kate truly left her mark on the world. She positively impacted many students’ lives. Few are able to leave such a legacy let alone in such a short amount of time. A life well-lived.
The visitation will be held Friday June 11th from 6-8 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 780 Water Oak Ln. Fleming Island, FL. Funeral services will be held the following day, Saturday June 12th at 1:00 pm at the same location. Funeral arrangements are being held by Fraser Funeral Home. Memorial Donations may be made to Greyhounds As Pets of Northeast Florida.
