Michael Allen Dartt

September 19, 1956~May 12, 2021

Michael Allen Dartt, self-proclaimed daredevil, died on May 12, 2021, leaving his brain cancer behind and headed to the sky to ride the streets of Heaven in his favorite CSX jersey and tall white socks.
Mike marched to the beat of his own drum, with no care of what others thought. He was loving and headstrong, had a passion for music and fitness, and knew too many facts  sometimes useful and sometimes more random than the way he’d fix things around the house. On most days, you could find him working on his never-ending yard projects or riding his bike around Jacksonville (and every surrounding city).
If he loved you, you knew it. He simply just told you, or you were the select few who got to enjoy time with him. Mike was the best husband, dad and papa. He was selfless, didn’t need flashy things, and, like many parents, sacrificed a lot to give his family a great life.
Mike leaves behind his wife and love of his life, Kathy, of 45 years; two children, Eric Dartt and Melinda Stivers; and two grandchildren. He was so proud of each of their accomplishments.
Mike was a low-key man, except when he worshipped in the choir every Sunday. So for that, his family will hold a private, family graveside service. An open visitation will be held at Fraser Funeral Home (8168 Normandy Blvd.) on Sunday, May 16 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
While Mike really enjoyed food and flowers, he also enjoyed expressing his love. If you’d like to do something for the family over the next few weeks, mail Kathy a card or send a Facebook message to her about your favorite memory of Mike. Until then, we’ll keep trying to come up with examples that actually fit his daredevil persona.
