I first met Michael Anthony Lichnock (Anton) when we were Sailors working at Naval Air Station (NAS) Cecil Field, on Jacksonville’s west side back in the early 1980s. Anton was a hardworking Aviation Support Equipment Technician and was a good friend. We went our separate ways when the Navy transferred us away from Cecil Field. We later caught up with each other later in our careers when Anton was being promoted to Aviation Support Equipment Chief Petty Officer at NAS Jacksonville. Anton and I where later stationed together at the Aviation Support Equipment schoolhouse on NAS Jacksonville. We trained a lot of Sailors and Marines on in depth maintenance and troubleshooting. Anton was a superb technician and was really good with computers, building them and troubleshooting them for friends and family. Anton and I last worked (and carpooled) together at DynCorp’s Aviation Support Equipment repair facility on Blount Island in support of the US Marine Corps’ Maritime Prepositioning ships. Anton had just been promoted to Quality Assurance Inspector when I left DynCorp in 2004 for other employment opportunities. Over the years since 2004, I’d see Anton infrequently as our lives diverged. I am deeply saddened to hear of Anton’s passing and offer Prayers for his family.

I served with Anton on USS SARATOGA 87-89. I was a young Sailor and he took the time to ensure I was properly trained. A great Leader and Mentor! RIP brother. Prayers to the family????
