Richard Leroy Henderson, age 80, went home to the Lord on June 26, 2021. His final days were spent surrounded by family. Richard was born on February 14, 1941 in Jacksonville, Florida to John P. Henderson and Vonnie C. Henderson. He attended Paxon High School and received many accolades as Captain of the Football Team. He spent his time devoted to his family and had a huge love for history. He was a member of The Museum of Southern History where he volunteered weekly. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church. He was employed with Jax Fire and Rescue for 31 years and retired as Captain. Richard is survived by his lovely wife Linda Henderson, son, Dean (Vicky) Henderson, daughters, Renee Ellis (Timothy) and Holly Oliver, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, sister, Linda (John) Delaney.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Fraser Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida 32221. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service.
