Robert Delmas Hewett

January 26, 1931~June 25, 2023

Robert Delmas Hewett was born January 26, 1931, and went home to be with the Lord on June 25, 2023, at the age of 92. Robert was born in Tabor City, NC, to Herman and Ethel Hewett. He had one brother, Flake.

Robert served in the Army overseas as a medic in the Korean War. He was proud of his country and was happy to serve and defend its honor. Prior to his departure into the Army, he married the love of his life, Frances Stanley. They were married for 70 years.

Robert had a deep love and devotion to his family. He enjoyed family gatherings where he would see his grandchildren and great-grandchildren mature and grow physically and spiritually. Because of the profession of faith of each one, the reunion in Heaven will be complete.

Robert’s love for his Savior was the foundation and guide for his life. His decisions were always based on what the Word of God said. His actions aligned with Scripture, and his example was one to follow. As the patriarch of the family, he instilled in his children the importance of their relationship with Christ. He was truly a Godly man who loved the Lord with all his heart and lived what he believed.

Robert Delmas Hewett is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, and his eldest son, Michael Hewett. He is survived by his wife, Frances Hewett, a son, Rickie Hewett, his daughter, LeDale Southerland, four grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 11:00 at Fraser Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Blvd, and the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private, family interment will be in Jones Cemetery, Callahan, Florida.

I worked with Mr. Hewett for a couple years while in college in Jacksonville. Mr. Hewett taught me life and work lessons that I carry with me today and has changed my life. He was candid, firm but always good for a laugh! He had many funny sayings that made us laugh. He took us under his wing while hundreds of miles away from home and treated us and loved us like we were his own.
Mr. Hewett, thank you and you will be missed!
