Sammy L. Van Hoose, 78 – of Jacksonville, FL, peacefully entered into rest on Monday, December 19, 2022, with his two daughters and four grandchildren by his side.
Our wonderful Father and Papaw was born on November 15, 1944 in Patrick, KY. Following his high school graduation in 1965, he entered the Air Force and was stationed at Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. He served one tour of duty in Vietnam. Sammy enjoyed playing golf and watching his favorite college basketball team, the Kentucky Wildcats.
Sammy was predeceased by his wife, Marcia M. Van Hoose (Nelson), and his parents, Ervin Van Hoose and Ethel Van Hoose (Ratliff). He is survived by his children, Deborah L. Blair and Deanna L. Van Hoose, four grandchildren Zachary A. Blair, Zane A. Blair, Zekiel A. Blair and Zoe A. Blair, two brothers Dennis R. Van Hoose and Stanley E. Van Hoose, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held, Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 1:00pm in the chapel of Fraser Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32221 followed by interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
