Theodore Wayne Ward, Sr. (Ted), 88, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away of natural causes on September 4, 2023. He was born on July 15, 1935, in Independence, KS to Bruce and Violet Ward.

Upon graduation from high school, Ted joined the United States Navy where he served his country for more than 20 years before retiring as a Chief at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL. During his time in the navy, he met his first wife, Lois, who he was married to for 30 years until she passed away of natural causes on November 26, 1993.

Following his service in the military, Ted was employed with the United States Postal Service where he worked faithfully for 20 years before retiring from the workforce for good.

Ted was a loving and devoted husband, dad, papa, and brother. He is survived by his wife, Iris; his son, TJ; his granddaughters, Dacey, Whitney, and Ashley; his grandson, Darien; his stepson, Ted and his wife, Marcie; his sister, Carol and her husband, Jim; his daughter-in-law, Wendy; his brothers and sisters-in-law Jim and his wife, Brenda and Wes and his wife, Eve.

Extremely hard-working and generous, Ted provided the best life possible for his family and often helped meet the needs of those less fortunate. He was a truly great man whose impact will continue to be felt by his family and friends who loved him dearly.

A funeral service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, 800 Hammond Blvd., Jacksonville, FL at 3 pm on Sunday, September 10, 2023, with a viewing to precede the service at 2pm.

God bless you ted. I joined the navy because of you. We shared some good stories of the navy and our old man. Wished we could of had one last muster together. I appreciate you driving home with me in 1982. Thanks for the memories. Your stepbrother from Kansas. Ron
