Thomas Edward Whitmarsh Jr, born November 30th, 1955, passed away unexpectedly November 7th in his home in Jacksonville, Fl. He is predeceased by his father Thomas Edward Whitmarsh Sr, his mother Mary Anne Groover Whitmarsh, and his sister Terri Stratmann. He is survived by his wife Cindy Saunders Whitmarsh of Lake City, his three sons; Jason, Jonathan, and Aaron Whitmarsh, and his stepson Timmy Milligan. He also had seven grandchildren; Elissa, Tyler, Chloe, Mitchell, Anna Joan, Maxine, and Ella Skye.
Tom spent most of his professional career at JB Coxwell; he was the third to be hired, jump-starting the company. Over his time there, he displayed passion and skill in everything he did. Tom started from the ground, and over time settled in as an essential Pipe Forma. He retired as a Heavy Equipment Dispatcher, committing over 30 years to the company he loved. Forever an avid fisherman, hunter, and all-around outdoorsman. FSU Seminoles have never had a bigger fan or louder cheerleader. Tom truly lived life to the fullest enjoying time with his family and friends and exchanging laughs and memories. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service in his honor. It will be held in the chapel of Fraser Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32221 at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 3rd. The attire is casual, as that’s how he liked it, but try for anything garnet and gold in his memory. Tom was an upbeat and charismatic person, so any humorous stories or memorabilia are welcome!

Tommy and I grew up playing baseball, football, surfing and even an attempt in a band. Tommy attempted to play the trombone and I attempted to play the Cornet. We flat out sucked. We were so bad his dad and sister begged us not to practice at their house. Yes, great memories of the South Street, Bowles Street and Davis Street neighborhood. You will now be catching up with John Henry, Steven Thomason, and of course Marty Burns who just arrived. Rest In Peace Tommy and the rest of my dear friends.

I can’t believe your gone my friend of 30+ years. I’ll always remember you, from picking you up the first time on 12 street and taking you to JB and seeing you at the Hatch on Thanksgiving. Fish and cook all you want now, RIP my friend.

Tom was a great guy to be around. He loved being in a house full of people as he enjoyed interacting with everyone. He had a real passion for fishing. There wasn’t a shy bone in his body and that made him very likable. Prayers to his family and all who knew him. May he Rest In Peace.
