Virginia (Ginny) Margaret Riffle, age 92, went Home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 13, 2023.

Born in Buffalo, New York, on May 10, 1930, to the late Walter and Bessy Merz, she was the only daughter with two younger brothers, Kenneth Merz and the late George Merz. Ginny married her beloved husband, Glenn, on June 2, 1951, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gardenville, New York.

Ginny is survived by her husband of 71 years, Glenn Melbourne Riffle; her son, Dennis Riffle, his wife, Denise, their three children, Sarah, Rebekah and Jonathan; her daughter, Deborah Milton, her husband Jan, their three children, Stephen, David and Jeremy; her daughter, Barbara Herdzik, her husband Matthew, their two children, Michael and Karla; her daughter, Beth Scott, her two children, Benjamin and Jason; and her daughter, Jeannine Christian, her husband Gary, and their two children, Nicole and Grant. She is also survived by 27 great-grandchildren.

Ginny was a caring individual who touched the lives of all who knew her. As a devout Christian, she put God first in her life and dedicated her time to family and church. Over the years she was involved in Brownie Girl Scouts, Pioneer Girls, church nursery, Vacation Bible School, Odosagih Bible Conference kitchen worker, Bible college cafeteria, Red Roses ladies’ group, and elementary teachers’ aide and a school board member. She used her sewing and crafting talents to sew hundreds of pillowcases and many stuffed animals for seriously ill children, as well as crocheting baby booties for a pregnancy crisis center. Professionally, Ginny was a Registered Nurse for over 40 years and had a short career in real estate.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Trinity Baptist Church, 800 Hammond Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity Rescue Mission.

So sorry for your loss. Ginny was a real blessing to our family when we attended First Baptist Church in West Seneca. She will be missed. Prayers to family and friends. George and Jean Volpe
