In Loving Memory Of
Antonio Samaniego Villanueva
Also known as Tony
May 9, 1948 -
September 3, 2025
In the care of
Fraser Funeral Home
Antonio (Tony) Samaniego Villanueva passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida, at the age of 77. He was born on May 9, 1948, in Batangas, Philippines.
Tony is survived by his sister, Violeta Medina (husband Noly); his children, Shannon Rowland, Danielle DeCastro, and Jerry “Frankie” Gentile; and his grandchildren, Nicole Charles, Christopher DeCastro (wife Shaquille), and Joseph Kiflu-DeCastro. He was a beloved great-grandfather to Alani DeCastro, Raelynn Charles, and Jaylen Antonio DeCastro. He also leaves behind many dearly loved nieces and nephews across California, Canada, Florida, France, and the Philippines.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeannette; his son, David DeCastro; his parents, Hilario and Elisa Villanueva; his parents-in-law, Edna Dukes (husband Zedra) and Sheppard Hightower; and his siblings: Ofelia, Vicente, Romeo (wife Lita), Teresita Magsino (husband Leopoldo), Virgilio (wife Violeta, surviving), Carlos (wife Eta), and Rick (wives Cindy and Marilou, surviving).
If one word could describe Tony, it would be selfless. He was the kind of man who would give you his last dollar and always went out of his way to care for those he loved. He spent over 20 years cooking for Meals on Wheels and never hesitated to cater family gatherings or countless celebrations for friends.
Tony loved playing Pedro and poker, betting on the dogs with his brother-in-law Romeo Molina, and keeping up with Filipino news on YouTube. He had a brilliant mind for math, an encyclopedic memory for historical facts, and never forgot a birthday.
He will be deeply missed, but we find comfort in knowing he is now reunited with so many loved ones.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Fraser Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32221.
