April 18, 2026
In the care of
Fraser Funeral Home
Bobby Joe Jackson, 92, peacefully passed away on April 18, 2026. Bobby was born in High Springs, Florida, on June 22, 1933, to George and Effie Prevatt Jackson. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army and married his high school sweetheart, Hilda Searing, while home on leave on December 23, 1954.
Bobby faithfully served his family as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather (“Papa”), offering wisdom and guidance to those he loved most. As a believer, he dedicated his life to serving the Lord as a teacher and deacon for many years. He was an active member of Lake Shore Baptist Church, where he and Hilda raised their family. After retiring, they moved to Keystone Heights, where they became active members of First Baptist Church of Keystone Heights.
Bobby also served his community with distinction as a police officer, joining the Duval County Road Patrol in 1964 and retiring in 1993 from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. He brought joy to countless families by playing Santa for 30 years at the annual JSO FOP Christmas Party for Special Needs Children. He was a generous man who never hesitated to help those in need.
He loved a good high school or college football game and was a lifelong Florida Gators fan.
Bobby was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Hilda; his daughter, Frances; and his grandson, Stephen Campbell.
He leaves behind a legacy of faith and love through his family: daughter Kathy (Danny) Tatham; son Bubba (Mary Ann) Jackson; grandchildren Luke (Amanda) Tatham, Matt (Angie) Tatham, Jennings (Nydia) Jackson, and Jillian Jackson; and great-grandchildren Kaylynn, Reagan, Kynsley, Cole, and Joanna Tatham.
While we will miss him deeply, we find great comfort knowing he is with his Savior. When asked the secret to his longevity, Bobby would always say it was his relationship with the Lord.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 PM at Fraser Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL.
A Celebration of Life will take place Friday, April 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Keystone Heights, 550 E. Walker Drive, Keystone Heights, FL, with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
All are invited to join the family for lunch and fellowship immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Keystone Heights or the American Stroke Association.
