Dennis Meurer was born on November 21, 1940, and was raised in Louisville, Kentucky.
Dennis proudly retired from CSX after 35 years of dedicated service where he had a strong work ethic that he carried throughout his life and proudly instilled in his children.
Outside of work, Dennis enjoyed the little things that made life special. He loved spending time with his family, tending to his garden, and watching his favorite show, The Big Bang Theory. His warmth, humor, and appreciation for everyday moments made him someone who was deeply loved and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth Ann Meurer, with whom he shared 36 years of marriage. Together, Denny and Ruth Ann built a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories.
He leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly: his son, John Meurer, and his grandchildren, Emily and Jack; his daughter, Vickie Thiel, and her husband, Jeff Thiel; his son, Dennis Meurer, his wife, Jennifer, and their son, Corbin; his granddaughter, Amanda Meurer, and her son, Jaxxon; and Jeff Meurer and Rose Meurer.
Family was always at the heart of Dennis’s life. He cherished the time they spent together, the memories they made, and watching his family grow through the generations. He was proud of each of them and will be deeply missed by the family who loved him so dearly.
Funeral services for Dennis will be held at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Avenue, Louisville, Kentucky 40206. The service will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park.
The family will also hold a Celebration of Life in Jacksonville, Florida, at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends as they become available.
