It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved mother, sister, and friend to many, Edna “Patsy” McStephenson Parkes of Jacksonville, Florida. She passed away on May 28th, 2026, in Fleming Island, Florida, at the age of 81.
She was born in Jacksonville, Florida on September 30th, 1944, to William and Eola Driggers McStephenson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 47 years, Alfred (Larry/Al) L. Parkes II, and several siblings.
She is survived by her sisters, Shirley (Joe) Lorenz, Marie (Everett) Kelly, Mary (Bill) Mock, her two children, Tracey (Bo) Keiton, Pete (Sharon) Parkes, two grandchildren, Heather (Kord) Greuter, A.J. Parkes, great granddaughter, Kylie Greuter, and lots of nieces and nephews.
She was a graduate of the class of 1962 from Paxon High School.
Patsy was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where she worked faithfully every Sunday in the children's church department. In later years, she and her husband went to Hope For Life Baptist Church on Ramona Blvd. Patsy was a stay-at-home mom until her children were grown. She then pursued work at Wal-Mart, where she
worked in the fabric department. In later years, she worked as a secretary at a pest control company until she retired.
Patsy loved to sew, and was an excellent seamstress, doing seamstress work for several different dry cleaners, over the years. She also loved doing word search puzzles, reading, going out to eat, watching her son race, growing beautiful plants in her yard, and having lots of pets through the years.
A Memorial Service will be held for her on Saturday the 20th of June 2026, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Fraser Funeral Home 8168 Normandy Blvd. Jax., Fl. 32221. Reception will start at 2:00 with food, and a service being held at 3:00.
