In the care of
Fraser Funeral Home
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marie H. Wical (Hazel Marie Hodgins) a.k.a. Little Bobbie, who peacefully left this world after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on February 18, 1952, in Eustis, Florida, Marie was a vibrant spirit who touched the lives of everyone she met. She resided in Jacksonville, FL, where she continued to share her warmth and kindness with her family, friends, and community.
Marie was the beloved daughter of Quince Everett Hodgins and Bessie Pauline Bates. She carried their legacy of love and compassion throughout her life. As a devoted mother, she leaves behind her cherished children: Delonda (husband, Leo), Dawn, Robert, and Ralph (wife, Emily). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Kwesi, Marie, Angelina, Ivonne, Raven, Sable, Tala, Wolf, Jesyka (husband, Jeremy), and Samantha, as well as her great-grandchildren, Luykus and Leilani.
A lover of life, Marie never met a stranger. She had an incredible ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Her genuine interest in others made everyone feel seen and valued. Marie’s warmth radiated in her daily life as she enjoyed engaging in conversations and spreading joy wherever she went.
Marie was an ardent animal lover and dedicated much of her time to rescuing animals in need, providing them with love and care. Her enlightened heart extended to finding treasures where no one else looked, where she delighted in uncovering hidden gems that others had overlooked. She was never one to sit still for long; Marie thrived on adventure and sought joy in the beauty of nature. Her love for the outdoors inspired her to create stunning flower arrangements, as she always aimed to leave the world a more beautiful place.
Marie was known for her loving and kind spirit, often adorned in sequins and animal print, which reflected her vibrant personality. Her long hair was a signature feature, and she wore it with pride, much like she wore her heart on her sleeve.
Her family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at Fraser Funeral Home on Normandy Blvd. As we remember Marie, we encourage those who wish to commemorate her love for animals to consider making a donation to the Jacksonville Humane Society.
In her final days, Marie received compassionate care from her children and Community Hospice, and for that, we are eternally grateful.
Although physically not with us, Marie H. Wical’s loving spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave.
